Agriculture

For more than 20 years, we have conducted agricultural operations at our Cadiz Valley property. The underlying groundwater, fertile soil, and desert temperatures are well suited for a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, including citrus, grapes, melons, peppers, and squash.

Within our Cadiz Valley property, 9,600 acres have been zoned for agriculture. Our infrastructure includes seven wells that are interconnected within this acreage, with annual production capacity of 13,000 acre-feet of water. We also have housing and kitchen facilities that support up to 300 farm employees.

Permanent crops currently in production are farmed using sustainable agricultural practices and include 260 acres of lemons and 160 acres of organic vineyards. The company recently entered into a joint venture to develop another 500 acres of lemons and will begin planting in 2009. Seasonal vegetable crops on the property are all grown organically, including squash, sweet corn and beans.
